Diversityworks Peer Support Network

www.dpsn.net.nz

An informal collective of people committed to shared support and learning in a social environment. The network uses a mix of online chats, social networking (blogs, forums, Facebook and Twitter), Skype and phone chats, texting and face-to-face meetings, to keep people in touch with each other. We also run workshops, events and other projects from time to time.

We seek to continue to realise a vision of a sustainable peer support network that creates empowerment and life- enhancing connections.

Our strategic aim from 2010 to 2012 is to continue to develop a flexible, multi-faceted and sustainable network for disabled people, young people, whanau/families and others who could benefit from peer support.

Our objectives for the network in the next three years are to:

  • Build membership and create a structure that fosters growth
  • Explore and define the best way to create and sustain optimally supportive environments
  • Run regular peer support workshops, events and projects to build common interest, shared learning and social capital
  • Develop online tools that allow people to keep in touch, regardless of communication medium.

DPSN is generously supported by the Todd Foundation.

A key activity of DPSN in 2010 was the MyFilm short film project. Click here to see the films on YouTube.
